P3210 Heat Transfer Bench with cross Flow Heat Exchanger

A range of experiments in the field of Heat Transfer has been developed for the basic Air Flow Bench to meet the needs of this growing area of study.

FEATURES

  •  Large range of add-on experiments in heat transfer, air flow and aerodynamics.
  • Well instrumented including dual sloping manometer, barometer and pitot static tube.
  • Additional equipment easily and quickly fitted.
  • Enables a series of forced convection heat transfer coefficients to be derived.
  • Data logging outputs of heater current and voltage, surface temperature and air temperature available as an option.
PRINCIPLE EXPERIMENTS
  • To determine the relationship between Nusselts and Reynolds numbers applied to a single heated tube positioned transversely to a stream of air.
  • To determine the effect of change of diameter on the heat transfer coefficient to a single tube in cross flow.
  • To determine the effect of change of position of the heated tube within a cross flow tube bundle.

P7674 Ejector Bench

The principle of operation of an ejector is simple: a high velocity steam jet blows into the ejector throat and thereby produces a suction which draws a fluid into the throat at high velocity.

FEATURES
  • Compact modular design
  • Easy installation
  • Comprehensive instrumentation
  • Pressure test certificates supplied for major components
  • Low capital cost
Steam Head Assembly
Mild steel steam header welded in accordance with BS2633 (1973) with a branch providing a steam supply to the ejector. The steam header is enclosed within a header box and fully insulated with mineral wool.
Certification
The steam header is pressure tested at 21 bar and is supplied complete with a test certificate.
Inter-Connection of Steam Benches
To enable steam benches to be linked to form a system utilising a common steam supply and service system, the steam bench is supplied complete with:
  • An interconnecting back panel and student work surface.
  • A set of 4 stainless steel flexible hoses for the steam and service connections.
  • A section of aluminium clad lagging for the flexible steam hose.

P9010e Turbojet Engine Test Stand

Cussons Turbojet Engine Test Stand provides a fully functioning, aero derivative small jet turbine.

Turbojets are used as high performance jet engines in aircraft and to provide the core of the very successful turbofan engines used on the great majority of airliners.
Cussons Turbojet Engine Test Stand provides a fully functioning, aero derivative small jet turbine. The jet turbine thrust can be measured and outputs from up to 230N can be achieved. The unit is provided with a mimic diagram displaying the temperatures of the gas flow and engine pressure ratio. Air flow, fuel flow and rotational speed measurement mean that an energy balance for the engine can be undertaken.
EXPERIMENTS / LEARNING CAPABILITIES
  • Demonstration of the Turbo jet principle
  • Performance analysis of a Turbojet at varying power
  • Temperatures air inlet
  • Fuel inlet compressor outlet
  • Combustion chamber outlet
  • Tail pipe stream
  • Ambient air pressure
  • Air inlet differential pressure
  • Compressor outlet pressure
